Dieu Hang Hoang, MA, LPC

I’m happy you’re here! I’m Dieu Hang, a straight, able-bodied, cisgender, first-generation Vietnamese therapist who is passionate about working with those who struggle with low self esteem, social phobia, traumatic experiences, grief, and self-harm. It is a heartwarming experience to witness each client’s progress, whether it is making their first friend at a new school, experience a night’s rest without nightmares, or finding one reason for hope.

I have several years of experience working with children as a school therapist and as a play therapist. I use a integration of Child Centered Play therapy and Synergetic Play as my primary approach for play work with younger kids.

For older clients, I primarily draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, and Internal Family Systems. I also weave in art, somatic work, mindfulness, and storytelling to fit each client’s style and keep therapy engaging, creative, and fun at any age. With adult clients working through trauma, I utilize Cognitive Processing Therapy, Brainspotting, and Internal Family Systems.

When I’m not in the therapy room, I’m likely off indulging my other area of expertise: professional hobby collecting. I’ve dabbled in so many interests, it’s basically a side quest at this point. I love reading, sewing, crocheting, rock climbing, playing pickleball, listening to music, singing, dancing, watching movies, drawing, and playing video games, You might also catch me hiking, making matcha at home, or getting way too excited about a new spreadsheet or PowerPoint idea.

All these little passions aren’t just hobbies, they’re bridges to other people, including my clients. I often find shared interests with clients, and those moments of connection help me tailor therapy in creative and engaging ways. Whether I’m sending you off on a quest to gain real life ability points, co-regulating through art, or using play as a path to healing, there’s a good chance we’ll find something meaningful (and maybe a little silly) to share. Together, we can make therapy as meaningful and unique as you are.

We might be a good fit if…

You or your child carry feelings of shame or low self-worth.

You often feel “not good enough,” disconnected from who you truly are, or weighed down by self-judgment. I hold space for the parts of you (or your child) that have internalized painful messages, and help build inner trust and compassion.

You or your child are navigating grief or trauma.

Whether it’s a loss, a family change, or something harder to name—these moments can overwhelm our system. I offer a safe, attuned space to process these experiences gently, with curiosity and care. If you're wondering whether you or your child’s specific experience is a fit for the work I do, please feel free to reach out. I’m happy to share more about how I support trauma-related concerns.

Your child struggles with aggression or withdrawn behavior

Behind behaviors of aggression, refusal, or isolation is a part that’s trying to be seen or stay safe. Through play, presence, and relational safety, I help children make sense of what they’re feeling and find new ways to express and regulate their inner world.

You or your child are feeling stuck in patterns of self-harm or self-protection.

When pain doesn’t have another outlet, protective parts may turn inward. I support clients in understanding these protective patterns—not with shame, but with compassion—while helping them connect to the deeper parts longing for relief and healing.
